Southwest Airlines and BWI are collaborating on construction of a new $135 million aircraft maintenance facility – a 27-acre site that will include a hangar to accommodate up to three Boeing 737 aircraft. Southwest Airlines BWI New Tech Operations Hangar East is a 129,000-square-foot airline maintenance hangar that can accommodate three commercial airplanes inside and eight on the apron. The project includes a fire pump building, a 300,000-gallon water storage tank, and a wastewater containment tank storage canopy.

The 27-acre site will have an apron space to accommodate up to eight Southwest Airlines jets, a hangar to house up to three Boeing 737 aircraft, plus associated office and workshop space. The new maintenance facility, built by Clark Construction, will be the first in the north-eastern US for Southwest Airlines.
